The Internet vs. World Wide Web

The World Wide Web is a variety of websites that are available to use via the internet. These websites are electronic versions of what a newspaper was thirty years ago for media. This assortment of media was founded in 1989 by a man named Tommy Berners-Lee. It’s original intent of use was the major need from university scientists to share their ideas. Looking back at how the internet was when it began and now are now at all that similar. Today the World Wide Web is something everyone uses daily to research things for college or random sports facts.

The internet is a global network that includes computers and other electronics. It provides endless sources for anything that people would want to know. People can now access the internet by simply going “online” by connecting to a computer or any other electronic devices such as a smart phone. The internet is simply made up from a bunch of physical cables which include telephone wires, TV cables and fiber optic cables. This is what makes wifi and 3G/4G exist. The person who created what we heavily rely on today is named Robert Kahn in the 1970’s after developing Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol. The internet was first invented for military purposes but then expanded for the use of scientists communicating with others. It quickly expanded to everyone using the internet a couple decades later.

After researching both forms of technology I realized that both work side by side to each other. This because one can’t work without the other to carry out an action electronically. They are not the same because both have different responsibilities on how complete a task. The first website created was named CERN by the same person who created it all.
